Old Tech Makes Me Sad

I don't know why, but there's something about seeing old tech hobble along that makes me sad.

Maybe its the thought of the feelings people must have felt when it was new, when it was flash, sleek, and futuristic.

I saw an ancient server tucked in a corner with its monotonous hum, dutifully carrying out jobs that are but vague memories in only the most senior of staff members.

An antennae in a nascent village beaming the inhabitants bits into cyberspace, its foundations rusting away.

Tube televisions caked in dust in junkyards. Motherboards, speakers, countless varieties of discarded silicon.

Maybe the sadness is in me? Maybe its all just memories etched into the grid-lines of neurons and pain.

I don't know. But I can't shake the feeling.
